My mother's name was Lydia Oaks. My father married her in Stow, Mass., March 19, 1767. So from one as good as dead, sprang my ancestors by my mother's side.

The above was written by John Conant, third child and oldest son of Lydia Oaks, wife of Eben Conant. It was written in ink on blue writing-paper, and pasted into John Conant's family Bible.

(The bracketed note about blotted figures is in the typed copy, so it is the copyist's, not John Conant's.)

How it is shown: Complete page as supplied; no crop, no retouch. Rotated upright from the sideways scan; nothing else changed.

Keep in mind: A typed copy made by someone other than John Conant, who wrote the note; who typed it and when is not known. Family tradition.
