How it is shown: Complete image as supplied (a framed copy beside a scan of the same certificate); no crop, no retouch.
Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed: 'Private Henry L. Foss, Co. D, 3rd M.G. Bn., who was wounded in action in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, October 9, 1918', signed for the Division Adjutant (R. E. Fraile) by command of Maj. Gen. Summerall. On the framed copy a typed slip repeats the citation over the foot of the printed certificate, and the extract number is hard to read. Whether this is our person: Confirmed: the certificate belongs to the Digital Maine collection assembled around one soldier named Foss, and matches the Henry Leroy Foss (1894-1989) of Company D, 3rd Machine Gun Battalion in the tree; the certificate itself carries only the initial L.
