Keep in mind: The instrument: Nathl Oak of Chelsea conveys to Jacob Cutter of Portsmouth, N.H., for sixty dollars, his right, title and interest in a Chelsea Turnpike Corporation share, signed 24 Dec 1822, with the acknowledgment of the same date. Identity: Likely, not Confirmed; the deed names 'Nathl' of Chelsea, Orange County, Vermont, and the signature reads Nathl Oak; the pensioner Nathaniel Oak (1751-1840), who lived in Chelsea until 1839, is the leading candidate, but the deed gives no age or family tie. The share number is partly overwritten (provisionally 'numbered Nineteen', possibly also 'Nine'); the first witness's surname is uncertain.
