Keep in mind: Continuation of the reply in scan 0925 (the sentence on the Nathan Oaks entry runs on from the first page). Adjutant General's reply of 8 May 1916 to a private correspondent (addressed 'Josephine Edwards Tinkbaur, Kirkwood, Illinois', a person of 1916 long since deceased). It says the records show one Seth Oaks as captain of a company designated Capt. Oaks' Company of Artificers, Continental Troops, on a muster roll of 7 Sept 1777 (commissioned 19 March 1777). Identification with Seth Oak born 1733 of Winchendon and Athens is Likely (other records name Capt. Seth Oak's artificers in 1777-1778). The second paragraph concerns a Nathan Oaks, a private in Capt. Edgell's company, Jacobs' regiment, who is not identified with any person in the tree and is not tagged.
