Keep in mind: Compiled service cards copied from the rolls of the 6th Massachusetts Regiment (Col. Thomas Nixon), a 6-months levy enlisted July 1780; the cards are copies of rolls, not separate enlistments. The 13 July 1780 enlistment is the one the 1923 Pension Office reply to W.25398 gives for Nathaniel Oak of Athens and matches the printed Soldiers and Sailors entry for Nathaniel Oaks of Bolton, age 18; Likely for Nathaniel Oak born 1762. The name forms (Nathaniel, Nathan, Nathl) and the 3 July (card 0885) versus 13 July dates are kept as written; the Chelsea pensioner's service is a different file.
