Commissioner of Pensions

Dear Sir

I am Seeking proof that I am a descendant of a revolutionary Soldier and as we have no records and as my Grandfather was a pensioner thought proof could be obtained through the Pension Bureau

My Grandfathers name was Nathaniel Oak and I think went from the State of Vermont The last pension he drew as march 4 1840 an older Brother of mine

How it is shown: Complete image as supplied; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.

Keep in mind: Part of pension file S.18534 (Chelsea, Vt.; later Maine). The file is a Confirmed record of the Chelsea pensioner; his identification with Nathaniel Oak born 1751 (parents John and Susanna) is the existing reviewed account and stays qualified. Do not merge this file with the Athens pension W.25398. A descendant's recollection filed in the pension jacket. His recalled age of 133 (1895) conflicts with the pension declaration's age 81 in 1832, and his recollection of a captaincy is expressly uncertain; neither point is resolved. Joseph Oak is not tagged to a tree person.
