Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed from the page image, with the dates as printed: Ann, d. Natthaniel and Mary, Sept. 9, 1712; Gorge, s. Nathanil of Westbrow and Mary, Feb. 18, 1719-20; Hannah, Dec. 27, 1707; John, March 16, 1714-15; Jonathan, Aug. 21, 1717; Mary, March 31, 1710; Natthaniel, Jan. 7, 1703 (the year is printed 1703); William, Feb. 18, 1705; most with the note that the church record spells the name Oak. The same page prints 'OAK, Mary, bap. Nov. 29, 1741,' a different, later Mary, and later Oakes and Oaks families (Albert and Abigail; John and Experience) that are not Nathaniel's line. Whether these are our people: Likely, not Confirmed. The eight names, their birth order and the parents' names 'Natthaniel and Mary' match exactly the eight children the 1826 Worcester Magazine footnote gives to Nathaniel Oaks and Mary Holloway, and the tree holds the same eight; the page names no surname for Mary, and the tie to the tree's Nathaniel Oak(e) and Mary (Holloway) Oak rests on that match and the Marlborough place. William (b. 18 Feb 1705) is Likely the William Oakes of 18 who died in the 1723 Shrewsbury fire, by age alone. The 1741 baptism is not tagged. A caution on the date: Natthaniel's 7 Jan 1703 falls in the old-style January-to-March window, where a year written plainly as 1703 is often meant as 1703/4 in today's reckoning; the page does not say which the clerk meant. The parents' own Concord marriage, dated "March ye 2d 1703," carries the same ambiguity and is not independently resolved either (see the Nathaniel Oake story). This is a caution about reading the date, not a claim that one reading is correct.

Likely: Anne (tenth) and Hannah (fifteenth). Not reliably read: the ages for Mary, Nathaniel and William. Date and sum Likely. Tagging the eight to the tree's persons rests on the names and the 1906 register order (Likely).

How it is shown: Complete page as supplied; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed: under OAK, 'George and Lydia Eager, Oct. 23, 1744' (the marriage that the Marlborough search could not find), 'George and Marcy Bartlett of Marlborough, int. May 24, 1765', 'Hannah and Gershom Fay, Oct. 20, 1727. C.R.', 'John and Susanna Allin, Nov. 3, 1742', 'Nathaniel and Keziah Maynard, June 7, 1736'; under OAKE, 'Ann and David Maynard, March 14, 1737. C.R.', 'Mary and Daniel Maynard of Marlborough, Feb. 20, 1735. C.R.', 'Susannah and John Butler of Shrewsbury, int. May 18, 1754'; under OAKES, 'Mary and Thomas Rice, July 2, 1722. In Marlborough.' Whether these are our people: Likely, not Confirmed. The names and dates of these couples match the tree's children of Nathaniel and Mary (Holloway) Oak and their spouses, and Susannah Allen, widow of John Oak, who married John Butler; the page names no parents. Nathaniel and Keziah Maynard fit a Nathaniel Oak (b. 1703) with a second wife, but Keziah is not in the tree and the entry could also be another Nathaniel; George and Marcy Bartlett (1765) is not tagged.

How it is shown: Complete page as scanned; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: Confirmed. The entries give no parentage; identification with the tree's people is by name, place and date (Likely): 'Mary Oakes' is Mary (Holloway) Oak (Ward 1858, p. 61); 'Hannah' (m. Gershom Fay) is taken to be Hannah b. 1707. The Susannah who intended to marry John Butler in 1754 has no parentage on any page read and is not identified.
Evidence for: Westborough church records and Vital Records of Westborough: marriages of Mary Oake and Daniel Maynard of Marlborough (20 Feb 1734/5), of Nathaniel Oake and Keziah Maynard (7 Jun 1736) and of Ann Oake and David Maynard (14 Mar 1737)

How it is shown: Complete frame (original, unaltered); no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: Transcribed (frames 766-782); a first reading was made. Likely. The date line (read as a January, 'the twentyeth fift..') is not reliably read and conflicts with the 17 March 1728 allowance on the previous frame; it is not harmonised. Further parties tagged on 4 Oct 2026: Gershom Fay (witness 'Gershom Fay' to the slip of Mary and Anne Oak (Likely: the husband of their sister Hannah)).

Keep in mind: Transcribed (frames 766-782); a first reading was made. Confirmed: heading and the allowance in outline. Likely: the sums (a balance of 146-0-10 less 67-9-6 gives 78-11-4, which the arithmetic confirms). Only Nathaniel, John, Mary and Anne are present or accounted for individually; William, Jonathan, George and Hannah are named only in the heading.

How it is shown: Complete image; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight. The facing page (p. 504) belongs to other estates.
Keep in mind: The interlined correction above the signature line and the clerk's abbreviation of 'Entred' are doubtful. The judge's signature does not appear in this order. The right-hand page (p. 504) is other estates, not the Oak family. 500 to the upper part of p. 503 and that p. 499 and the top of p. 500 are another estate.

How it is shown: Complete image; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: Names, birth order and sums read clearly; spellings of some abutters (Rediat, Macholster, Eager) are uncertain. The page does not name William; the guardianship papers name eight children in 1722 and this return names seven living by 1729. 500 to the upper part of p. 503 and that p. 499 and the top of p. 500 are another estate.

Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed from the page image: the four entries above, each 'David Jr. and Ann'; the same page lists Hannah d. David and Hannah (1718), Marcy s. David and Hannah (1724-5) and Julia d. David Jr. and Sarah (1770), which are other children or another marriage. Whether these are our people: Likely, not Confirmed, on the same reasoning as p. 70: the tree's Ann Oak and David Maynard have children Gemima, Hannah, Levi and Loveniah with these dates. The Julia of David Jr. and Sarah is not tagged.

Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed from the page image: 'Solomon, s. David and Ann, April 8, 1739'; the same page lists Nathan s. David and Hannah (1722) and Sarah d. David Jr. and Sarah (1768), other families. The father is printed 'David' here and 'David Jr.' on pp. 70-71. Whether this is our person: Likely, not Confirmed, that Solomon is the tree's Solomon Maynard (b. 1739), son of Ann Oak and David Maynard, by name, date and parents' first names.

How it is shown: Complete page as supplied; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed: Abigail, May 5, 1757; Ann, Dec. 28, 1747; David, May 23, 1741, each 'd. [or s.] David Jr. and Ann'; Abigail d. James and Mary (1733) and the other entries are different families. The page gives no maiden name for Ann. Whether these are our people: Likely, not Confirmed. The tree's Ann Oak (b. 1712, daughter of Nathaniel and Mary) married David Maynard, and the tree holds children Abigail (1757), Ann (1747) and David (1741) with these dates; the 1826 Worcester Magazine footnote says Ann married David Maynard of Westborough. The page itself does not say Ann was an Oak. A caution on age, not identity: if this Ann is Ann Oak (b. 1712), she would have been about 44 or 45 at Abigail's birth in 1757, old for a mother in this family's other recorded births. Kept here as a Likely-level caution, not a reason by itself to doubt the identification.

How it is shown: Complete page as supplied; no crop, no retouch, no search highlight.
Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed. The footnote says Nathaniel Oaks came from England; married Mehitabel, daughter of John Rediet, who died 25 Nov 1702 without children; his second wife Mary was a daughter of Adam Holloway; the children were Nathaniel (of Bolton), William (burned at Shrewsbury in Capt. Keyes's house), Hannah (m. Gershom Fay Jr., d. 8 Mar 1806), Mary (m. Daniel Maynard, Marlborough), Ann (m. David Maynard, Westborough), John, Jonathan (removed to Harvard) and George. The text says nothing of a shipwreck, a cabin boy or a catamount; it is a printed account of 1826, not a contemporary record. Whether these are our people: the page names Nathaniel Oaks of Marlborough, his two wives and his children, and the tree holds the same parents and the same eight children with the same spouses (Likely for each child, since the tie to Nathaniel rests on this 1826 account). That the 'William' of the footnote is the William Oakes aged 18 named in the Boston News-Letter of 15 Aug 1723 is Likely, not Confirmed: the footnote is a later secondary account. Not tagged: John Rediet and the other people named on the page.
