Declaration of the People of Texas, 7 November 1835, adopted by the Consultation at San Felipe de Austin, with B. T. Archer as president. The signers are listed by municipality; under the Municipality of Washington appear Asa Mitchell, Philip Coe, Elijah Collard, Jesse Grimes and A. Hoxie. The text is a declaration of grievances and of support for the Mexican federal constitution of 1824; the date line is misprinted '1825'.

How it is shown: Complete broadside as supplied; no crop, no retouch.
Keep in mind: What the page says: Confirmed: Asa Mitchell is printed among the signers for the Municipality of Washington. This is the declaration of 7 November 1835, not the Texas Declaration of Independence of 2 March 1836, which is a different document with a different list of signers. Whether this is our person: Confirmed that this is the tree's Asa Columbus Mitchell (1795-1865): the Handbook of Texas entry for him states that he represented Washington at the Consultation and signed the declaration of 7 November 1835.
