Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.
Overview

Service
Army of the Republic of Texas, 1836 · Branch not stated · 1836 Confirmed
Private in Capt. William W. Hill's ranger company on the frontier, July 3 to October 3, 1836, discharged at Hickory Point by order of Gen. Thomas J. Rusk (audited Republic claim 855; General Land Office bounty certificate No. 3571): Confirmed. At San Jacinto: the San Jacinto List (Texas State Archives; General Land Office copy, p. 31) has "A. Mitchell," sergeant, in Company B, 1st Regiment of Volunteers, Capt. R. Roman, and the Handbook of Texas places him there; the list gives only an initial, so that is Likely.

Likely About this evidence
The saved document is a certified copy in a Texas General Land Office land-grant file; it has not had an independent manuscript check.
He named Laura Joyce as his daughter and William J. Joyce as her husband, and recorded that he had already advanced them ten acres with improvements about a mile below San Antonio.
Likely About this evidence
Same source and caveat as above. The will states this; it does not by itself establish every later step of Laura's own life.
The will directed that these earlier gifts be counted when the estate was finally divided.
Likely About this evidence
The will states the intention; whether the executors carried it out this way is not shown here.
