How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Service

Revolutionary War · Militia · 1777, 1780, 1781 Confirmed

The 1906 register says he served three enlistments, 1777-81, from Westborough and Bolton, and was 19 in 1780; a Daniel Oaks of Westborough, age 19, was a six-months man in 1780 (Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors, vol. 11). He applied for a pension in 1832, and his widow Deborah D. Oaks for bounty land in 1854 (National Archives, M804, roll 1836), so the service is his.
