How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Military serviceCaptain in Colonel Isaac Wyman's New Hampshire regiment in 1776; died in service at Mount Independence on 17 September 1776, 1776
Confirmed evidence: show why

Why: The Chandler genealogy (1883) says he was captain in the Revolutionary War, that the New Hampshire Committee of Safety sent soldiers to 'join Capt. Chandler's Company', and that he died in the service at Mt. Independence on 17 September; the History of Keene lists 'Joseph Chandler, Epping' among Col. Wyman's captains. The scanned text prints the year garbled, and the page image should be checked before quoting it. Mount Independence is in Vermont, not New York, and the tree's birth date may belong to an older brother who died as an infant.
