How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Military serviceBET 1754 AND 1756
Military serviceConfirmed ensign of the west company or trainband of Milford, Connecticut, in October 1754 and lieutenant of that company in May 1756; his gravestone reads Lieu't, 1754-1756
Confirmed evidence: show why

Why: Public Records vol. 10 pp. 313 and 499; Pond, Milford inscriptions no. 192 gives 'Lieu't John FORD' died 10 Nov 1760 aged 56, son of John and Sarah, with a wife of the Gunn family. The stone gives no 'Thomas'; the name in the tree looks like a mix-up with a neighbouring stone. A son John could be the 1754 ensign; the 1756 lieutenant is the one the stone supports.
