How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

What the labels mean

MarriageBEF JAN 1920, with Charles A. Seigel born c. 1886
Second marriageCharles A. Seigel, by January 1920
Likely evidence: show why

Why: The 1920 census at Paterson lists Charles A. Seigel, 33, his wife Lule M., 35, born in New Jersey, and a daughter Iantha, 10: Lula with her daughter Iantha Hoefer, widowed in 1914, by the unusual name, age and town. No marriage record has been seen. By 1930 Charles A. Seigel was a widower, so Lula probably died between 1920 and 1930 (an inference: being widowed does not by itself show that Lula was the wife who died); her death record has not been found. Where they married is not known.
