How to read this page Photos and clippings count items you can view here. Cited or transcribed records are counted separately. Story links lead to accounts about the person; “Mentioned in another story” marks a passing reference. Memorial links open Find a Grave. A “family recollection” label marks something a relative remembered, not a written record. A military-service label rates the record of that service, not the whole life.Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Also recorded as Winchester Kelso II Military service First lieutenant of Infantry in the Regular Army, rank from 26 October 1917, 26 Oct 1917 Confirmed evidence: show why Why: The Official Army Register of 1 December 1918 lists 'Kelso, Winchester, jr' among the First Lieutenants of Infantry with date of rank 26 October 1917, and the New York Sun of 6 April 1918 lists him among Regular Army infantry promotions. The Evening Star of 16 February 1919 names 'Lieut. Winchester Kelso, U. S. A., accompanied by his wife and little son'. The Army and his mother's 1917 biography call him 'Jr.' (the tree says 'II'); the register gives no birthplace or residence, so the identification rests on the uncommon name with 'jr', the wife and son, and his mother's biography naming 'Winchester, Jr.'.
