How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Military serviceConfirmed lieutenant at Fairfield by the Connecticut General Court in May 1657, styled captain by 1667, and chosen major for Fairfield County in August 1673, 1657
Confirmed evidence: show why

Why: Colonial records vol. 1 p. 299 (May 1657) 'This Court doth confirme Mr. Gold to bee Leiften[ant]'; vol. 2 p. 69 (1667) 'Captn Nathan Gold'; vol. 2 p. 206 (7 Aug 1673) 'Captn Nathan Gold is chosen Major, for the county of Fayrefeild.' A family typescript calls the 1657 post lieutenant of the first troop of horse; the 1657 record says only lieutenant, so that is not repeated. The tree's parents and birthplace are not supported by these records.
