How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

Military servicePrivate in Company C, 43rd Mississippi Infantry (Confederate), enlisted at Aberdeen on 1 April 1862; paroled at Vicksburg on 7 July 1863, 1 Apr 1862 - 7 Jul 1863, Mississippi
Likely evidence: show why

Why: His compiled service record (Fold3, National Archives M269) is a jacket card for 'Holloway, Jeremiah, Co. C, 43 Mississippi Inf. (Confederate), Private' and a parole signed by his mark at Vicksburg on 7 July 1863; Fold3's index gives enlistment on 1 April 1862 at Aberdeen. Aberdeen is the Monroe County seat, and the tree's Jeremiah, born in 1840 in Georgia, lived in Monroe County in 1860. He is the only Jeremiah Holloway in the Mississippi regiments. The card gives no age or residence, so the identification is likely, not confirmed; whether the tree's Jeremiah could write is not known.
