Mary Oak

How to read this page

Sex is as recorded in the family tree. Age at death is worked out from the dates shown and may be a range or an approximation. It is left out when a date is missing or is only a “before”, “after” or “between” date, when the research has found a date Unconfirmed, when the two dates conflict, or when they would mean an age over 110.

GuardianshipNamed among the eight children of Nathaniel Oak in a guardian's bond (listed first); in March 1728/9 she, in her nineteenth year, chose Joseph Wheeler as guardian, Feb 1721/2, Westborough, Massachusetts
Likely evidence: show why

Why: In the guardian's bond of early February 1721/2 (frame 774 of the Middlesex probate file), Jonathan Forbush of Sutton took the guardianship of eight children of the late Nathaniel Oak of Westborough, named Mary, Anne, John, Jonathan, George, Nathaniel, William and Hannah. Her age word in the bond is struck or smeared (it may be 'twelfth', which would fit a birth in March 1710). The tree knows her under her married name, Mary Maynard; the 1728/9 slips (the transcriber's reading) give her as Mary Oake, in her nineteenth year.
